Easy Transfer Program



1. Sign up with ValueWeb
    Signing up with ValueWeb is a quick and easy process. Your domain's DNS hosts will not be switched to ours until you send the acknowledgement. In order to ensure that there is no downtime for your site, do not send the acknowledgement back until you have tested your site and are ready for the final step.

2. Upload Files
    Once you have signed up you will be given an IP address which will be active shortly thereafter. You can use this IP address to upload your web site using either FTP or Microsoft® FrontPage®.

3. Configure Your Mail Settings
    Mail is an important part of your presence on the internet. You will want to configure mail so that once your domain gets transfered your mail will seamlessly continue to work. Please read the instructions on the control panel about mail.

4. Test Website and Mail Configuration
    Once you have your site uploaded and your mail configured it's time to test. To test your website just put your IP address in the browser. If your links are relative your site should work fine. If you have absolute links you will have to test each page individually but as long as all the files were uploaded with the same directory structure all should be well. To test your mail configuration simply set the SMTP server on your client to mailhost.valueweb.net and send test messages to email addresses at your domain. Note with your SMTP server set to us you will only be able to send mail to your domain so make sure to change it back to the original SMTP server once you are done testing your mail configuration.

5. Acknowledge the Transfer
    When you are satisfied with your mail configuration and have your site in working condition send back the acknowledgement to InterNIC and within a few days your ValueWeb account should replace your old webhosting account. At this point you can cancel your account with your previous hosting service and enjoy the benefits of you ValueWeb account!
