ValueWeb / GeoTrust Certificate Control Page
Server certificates are used to provide secure, encrypted transactions between Web
browsers and a Web site. These certificates not only provide transaction encryption
but also verify that the potential customers are indeed conducting their transactions
with the site provided by the URL they have requested. Web hosting sites that choose
to use ValueWeb's secure certificate have all of the advantages of secure encryption
except one - your customers' browsers will give them a warning message stating that
your URL does not match the name on the certificate (ValueWeb). To erase any concerns
this may create for your customers, we suggest that you purchase your own secure
certificate.
The request and installation processes are automated. During the signup process, you will be instructed to fax the required documentation to GeoTrust. The process can not be completed until GeoTrust has received all of the necessary information.
Once your certificate is installed, you use the secure socket layer (SSL) by using https://www.yourdomain/ as the address of each secure page. Please note the HTTPS! The addition of the 'S' calls for the secure server.
